Frits Schut studied marine biology and microbiology at the Universities of Utrecht, Amsterdam and Groningen. In 1994, he received a PhD in Microbiology from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Groningen. Frits' main area of expertise is biotechnology, with particular fields of specialty ranging from pharmaceuticals, diagnostic and therapeutic use of biomarkers, vaccines, plant and animal breeding, and microbiology to metabolic engineering. Frits is a member of the Biotech Committe of the UNION of European Practitioners in Intellectual Property.
