Karel de Jong studied technical mechanics/applied mathematics (1987) at the University of Groningen. In 1991, he obtained a PhD degree. Karel is involved in general engineering in the fields of, inter alia, fluid dynamics, energy production, medical devices, shipbuilding, offshore, food processing, domestic devices and appliances, bicycle technology, rapid prototyping, and agriculture. Karel also has a 10 year background as an entrepreneur in the commercialisation of inventions.
