- Foreword by Cees Jansen, chairman of VEREENIGDE;
- Cross-border injunctions in patent proceedings - again? (recently, a new chapter was added to the ongoing attempts of the Dutch courts to provide cross-border injunctions in IP cases);
- VEREENIGDE's seminar in Munich (a retrospective of a seminar held in Munich from 18 to 20 September 2011 focusing on European Patent strategies);
- Double Dutch: Breeder’s exemption in patent law (the Dutch government is presently investigating the legitimacy of a limited breeder’s exemption (free development but no commercialization) in the light of TRIPs, the EPC, and the EU Biotech Directive);
- IP protection via national routes – Germany as an example (a short overview of the national protection rights available in several European countries, with a focus on German regulations and requirements);
- VEREENIGDE welcomes new partners (as of January 2012, Michiel van Rooij and Marco Molling have joined the partnership of VEREENIGDE);
- Again high PCT score for VEREENIGDE (a survey conducted by Managing Intellectual Property reveals that VEREENIGDE is the third largest PCT filing firm in Europe).

- More scope for European patents on inventions that relate to medical treatment (EPO Enlarged Board of Apeal ruled that current patent office practice on exclusion of methods of medical treatment from patentability has been too restrictive);
- No absolute protection for gene sequences in Europe? (in the case C-428/08, the Advocate-General of the European Court of Justice recently issued his conclusion);
- G3/08: Enlarged Board declines to give opinion on patentability of computer implemented inventions (according to the Enlarged Board, the decisions by the Boards of Appeal on this issue showed no divergence that needed resolution);
- Swiss-type claims no longer acceptable in Europe (in G 2/08, the Enlarged Board of Appeal decided on the patentability of a method for therapy in which the new and inventive feature was a new dose regimen for an already known drug and medical indication);
- Use of a Community Trademark in the Netherlands regarded as genuine use? (Benelux Office for Intellectual Property holds that the use of a CTM in the Netherlands only is not sufficient to conclude that the CTM has been genuinely used);
- Green patents (latest news on the relationship between patents and the development and transfer of clean energy technologies);
- G04/08: Language of the proceedings (the language of the proceedings before the European Patent Office is fixed from the moment an international application is filed in an official language of the EPO).

- New EPO rules for divisional applications (new rules as of 1 April 2010 introduce a new time limit for filing divisional applications);

- The EPO and the WARF stem cell patent (decision of the Enlarged Board of Appeal makes clear that the EPO will not grant patents for human embryo stem cells that require the destruction of the embryo);
- Strategic trademark filing in the Benelux and the EU (on the practice of designating goods or services in the Benelux and EU trademark applications as opposed to the US practice);
- The Netherlands celebrate 100 years of modern patent law (in 2010 it will be 100 years ago that the Netherlands revived its patent system in a modern form);

- The Benelux trademark opposition procedure (an overview of developments in the Benelux opposition proceedings and a discussion of the relevant decisions);
- EPC2000 new filing procedures (focus on new filing procedures and their consequences);

- Foreword by Frans A. Dietz, chairman of VEREENIGDE(on the 90th anniversary of VEREENIGDE, the first issue of this newsletter and the launch of the new website);
- Decision of Enlarged Board of Appeal on diagnostic methods (the Enlarged Board opted for a formal test that allows the issue of exclusion from patentability under Article 52(4) EPC to be decided just by looking at the type of steps that the claim contains);
- EPC2000 - An overview of the main changes (the European Patent Convention 2000 as the result of the diplomatic conference in Munich, 2000);
- Board of Appeal - divisional applications (the situation regarding divisional applications filed with the EPO has become an area of increasing legal uncertainty in recent years).
